About the mare

The Incredible Journey of Raia d’Helby and Her Exceptional Foals

Discovered at the Fences sales at 3 years old, Raia d’Helby (Fergar Mail x Papillon Rouge) was quickly entrusted to Olivier Robert. Under his guidance, she progressed to the top level, eventually being sold to the United States at the age of nine. There, she helped Adrienne Sternlicht make her debut on the international stage before winning Grand Prix 4* with Charlotte Bettendorf. Her career concluded under the saddle of Louise Joassin, while she began her journey as a broodmare. Her first embryo on the market garnered significant interest, and it was ultimately Olivier Robert who acquired it for 23,000 euros, marking the beginning of a promising story.

Daughter of the Grand Prix mare Miss d’Helby and sister to five Grand Prix horses, including Rapide and Regain d’Helby, Raia d’Helby is a renowned Selle Français making her return to France. She joins Beligneux le haras, which has formed a syndicate to facilitate this acquisition.

Sébastien Neyrat shares this beautiful story with us: “Beligneux le haras is known for its prestigious stallions, but we have recently developed fertilization techniques like ovum pick-up and ICSI at the haras de Châtenay. We also offer associations for the purchase of high-end genetics. The purchase of Raia d’Helby aligns perfectly with this approach. Six of the seven offspring of her dam, Miss d’Helby, have competed internationally. Raia herself is a spirited mare with great potential, perfect for being an exceptional broodmare. Bringing such a mare back to France is a source of pride for the four breeders involved in this project.”

Partners in this venture include the Forezan breeding farm led by Jérôme Aguettaz, the Excellencia stud farm led by Joachim Dufour, and Raoul Caboche, breeder and owner of Stephanie Hennequin.

Raia d’Helby’s future is promising, with carefully selected breedings planned to produce exceptional foals. Some will be marketed quickly, while others will be retained and developed by talented riders aiming for high-level competition.
